Mythical Ireland – Connection between the Earth and the Sky

To connect well with a country today, it is inspiring to discover more about its roots. The earliest written records of Ireland tell us legends of the country’s distant past; echoes of an ancient connection with the cycles of nature and places, reflected in more recent folktales and customs.

These tales are also often linked back to the Tuatha De Danann, the last mythical people, who were both gods and heroes on the earth itself.  In this talk we will discover more about mythical Ireland, and the deep and lasting connection its people had to the land.

Shintoism & Nature – A Path To Harmony

This April, in celebration of International Earth Day, we draw inspiration from Shintoism, an ancient tradition of Japan that greatly influenced the way of life of its people. Its name means “the path determined by the gods”. One searches for harmony with nature, recognizing nature as alive and imbued with Kami or “that which is above”. This attitude enables the Japanese person to feel at home with nature as a whole: mountains, rivers, clouds are all his family. How can we rebuild this deep connection with nature and our environment? Why don’t we have this sentiment of belonging to nature and the Earth today? To overcome today’s consumerist and careless approach to nature and Earth, an inner perspective has to transform. Can we rebuild unity and solidarity with nature through practice of constant renewal in simple actions of life?
