The Human Being has always sought love in life. In our relationships with others we mostly think of love as something to receive, a condition of being loved. Yet the Stoics suggest that it is more important to empower ourselves to love, freely and actively, rather than expecting only to be loved.
Love is the only force known to man, which is not vanquished in the face of challenges. It also asks of us a strength of character to overcome our self-centredness and open our heart despite our vulnerability. Because love is a choice.
Inspired by the wisdom of Stoicism, this talk will explore the nature of love and what we can do every day to discover a deeper sentiment of love in our lives, with courage and generosity.
