Martin Luther King and the Timeless Need for Idealism

Free Online Event

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jnr Day 2022

The Civil Rights movement was a defining chapter in American history which inspired the world. Though it was a collective effort its beating heart was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; a Baptist Preacher, a liberal intellectual and an advocate for non-violent civil disobedience.

King led the charge against racism, segregation and hypocrisy but when he turned his attention to the atrocities of the Vietnam War he was quickly singled out as being unpatriotic and as having lost his vision and priorities.

What drove such a man to defy not only the status quo but even the dissension of his own movement? What can we learn from a man who stood to his principles no matter the cost? What does it mean to be an idealist for each person in the everyday world?
